Burglary, Larceny, DUI, Improper Passing and Operation of a Motor-Vehicle with a Headlight Out

East Haddam and Moodus area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:


BURGLARY AND LARCENY INVESTIGATION - On March 19th, East Haddam Police were called to an East Haddam-Moodus Road residence to investigate a complaint of a home that had been burglarized, sometime between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Police said that entry was made into the home through a basement door, and it was reported that several electronic items had been stolen. Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or might be able to provide information that could help police with this investigation is asked to contact the East Haddam Police Department at 860-873-1226, or via email at  police@easthaddam.org  If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can also call the Confidential Tip Line at 860-873-5013.

IMPROPER PASSING - On March 19th at approximately 4:49 p.m., Catherine Porto, 61, of (no street address given) Hadlyme was traveling westbound on Mount Parnassus Road in the area of Sheepskin Hollow Road in East Haddam, in a 2011 Subaru Forester. Lori Dickey, 47, of (no street address given) East Haddam was traveling behind Porto, driving a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Police said that, as Dickey attempted to pass Porto, she side-swiped Porto's vehicle. No injuries were reported, but Dickey was issued an infraction for improper passing.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS, OPERATION OF A MOTOR-VEHICLE WITH A HEADLIGHT OUT, FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT AND POSSESSION OF LESS THAN 1/2 OUNCE OF MARIJUANA - On March 21st at 8:39 p.m., police noticed a Mercury Marquis traveling along Leesville Road in Moodus being operated erratically, and initiated a motor-vehicle stop. Thomas Ford III, 21, of 15 Quarry Hill Road, East Hampton failed a series of field-sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with the above violations. Ford was transported to Troop K, processed and later released on a $500 non-surety bond. He was given a court date of 4/4/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.
