Attempted Burglary, Larceny, Failure to Appear in Court and Motor-Vehicle vs. Utility Pole

East Haddam area police activity reports.

 

The East Haddam Police and the Connecticut State Police, Troop K in Colchester report the following incidents:

FAILURE TO OBEY A STOP SIGN AND POSSESSION OF LESS THAN ONE-HALF OUNCE OF MARIJUANA - On Jan 2, Matthew King, 27, of 79 Orchard Road, East Haddam was issued infractions for the above violations.

OPERATING WITH A CRACKED WINDSHIELD, OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE, OPERATING A VEHICLE WITHOUT MINIMUM INSURANCE COVERAGE, OPERATING AN UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE AND TOWING A MOTOR-VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF LICENSE CLASSIFICATION - On Jan. 4, Sean Barry, 21, of 593 Town Street, East Haddam was charged with the above violations by Middletown Police, and given a court date of 1/18/12 at Middlesex Superior Court in Middletown.

FAILURE TO DRIVE UPON THE RIGHT, OPERATING WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND EVADING THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT - On Jan. 7, Amanda Whited, 30, of 87 Falls-Bashan Road, Moodus was arrested and charged with the above violations, in connection with a motor-vehicle accident that had occured on Route 151 in the area of Wigwam Road in Moodus. Whited was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middlesex Superior Court on 1/25/12.

MOTOR-VEHICLE vs. UTILITY POLE - On Jan. 7 at approximately 2:40 p.m., Allison Baldwin, 51, of River Road, East Haddam was traveling northbound on River Road, when police say she lost control of her 2003 Mercedes-S on a sharp curve, veered off onto the right-hand shoulder of the road and struck a utility pole. Baldwin was transported to the Marlborough Medical Clinic by East Haddam Ambulance for treatment.

FAILURE TO APPEAR IN COURT - On Jan.10, Christian Mock, 30, of 19 Ridgewood Road, Moodus was arrested pursuant to a warrant, and charged with 2nd-degree failure to appear. Mock was held on a $10,000 bond and scheduled to appear at Norwich Superior Court in Norwich on 1/11/12.

THEFT FROM THE NATHAN HALE-RAY MIDDLE SCHOOL - A Great Hillwood Road, Moodus resident reported the theft of his son's iPad, black and silver in color, while at school. The incident is under investigation, and anyone who may have information that could help police is asked to contact Corporal Karl Karabeinikoff at the East Haddam Police Department at 860-873-1226.

BURGLARY - On Jan. 12, State Police were called to investigate an attempted burglary into a residence on Bogue Lane in East Haddam. Police report that a side entry door had been damaged, but no entry was made into the home. Anyone with possible information that could help with this investigation is asked to contact Trooper Joshua McElroy at the Connecticut State Police, Troop K at 860-537-7500, ext. #4066.
