Patch's Poll: Is Climate Change a Top Environmental Concern For You?

A new poll shows the number of people who put global warming at the top of the list of pressing environmental issues has dropped.

Just as a massive heat wave blasted the United States last week and triple-digit temperature records were set across the east coast, a new poll released this week shows that climate change is no longer the number one environmental concern among Americans.

According to the Washington Post-Stanford University poll, just 18 percent of responders name climate change as their top environmental concern, while 29 percent identify water and air pollution as their most concerning environmental issue.

By comparison, 33 percent said climate change was their top concern in 2007, the poll notes.

But, as the poll notes, nearly 75 percent of Americans say the Earth is warming and nearly as many say the U.S. government should do something about it.

This week, a massive derecho storm pummeled much of the mid-Atlantic, and 1.8 million people are still without power, according to Yahoo! News. Also, 3,215 daily high temperature records were set in the month of June, according to The Associated Press.

Many of America's politicians would just as soon not hear about scientific evidence relating manmade carbon dioxide emissions to accelerating climate change and it is this ANTI-SCIENCE attitude that worries me Alas,it is the attitude of these luddites that is turning this nation's youth against science and transforming us into a technologically followers rather than leaders compared to other parts of the world.

No one cares. Some portion of it is the natural result of nature. And whatever the consequences, the scientists are not really claer onm whether any solution will work and the politicians are just politicians, i.e., take an idea and go with it even if it presents and may not work.

We are going to see insects and parasites that could not have survived the cold winters of New England before. Coral reefs are dying from waters that are too warm for the corals to survive. Fish and other sea life are seeking cooler waters and are moving farther north to breed and feed. Because of the shift of climate zones, Colorado has had several years of pine beetle infestation and that has killed off their trees and left them dry as tinder. We see the devastation now in the form of catastrophic fires. The snow melt in the Rockies has been so precarious because of the lack of snow fall. The glaciers in the Himalayas, the Antarctic, the Arctic and elsewhere are melting at an alarming rate which means rivers which supply water to many Asian countries will flood and eventually dry up and cause catastrophic loss to flora and fauna (including the inability to sustain life). Tropical and sub-Tropical diseases, such as Denge Fever, are making their way north as the terrain changes to warmer climates. Islands are losing land as the seas rise. The sea water is becoming more acidic and sea life is mutating or dying off. etc.,etc.,etc/

nearly 75 percent of Americans say the Earth is warming and nearly as many say the U.S. government should do something about it. If this is true we are doomed as a country.

Global Warming® is NOT science, but a religion! The warmists have falsified so much data to prove their political agenda that it is outright fraud. But Al Gore is making a fortune on it as he jets around the world in his private 737.

Almost 53% of the voters chose 0bama in 2008. This was a heads-up that we might be doomed as a country. And 43% plan on voting for him again. If his is true, we are definitely doomed as a country!
