NHRMS Percussion Ensemble in East Haddam

On February 4th, the Nathan Hale Ray Middle School Percussion Ensemble in East Haddam performed as special guests at the High School's Chamber Ensemble Concert at the Goodspeed Opera House. The group was invited to perform along with nearly 100 vocal, and instrumental musicians from the high school. The 12 young middle school musicians fit right in and gave the crowd of parents and students a great performance.

Under the direction of Mr. Robert Raines, a social studies teacher at NHRMS, and the band director Zach Blain, the Percussion Ensemble meets each week after school to rehearse and perform music ranging from Samuel Barber's masterpiece, Adagio for Strings, to the theme from the popular video game Skyrim.

The group was recently featured on Channel 3’s Cool Schools and will be performing at William J. Johnston Middle School in Colchester in mid-April.
