Letter to the Editor: In Support of Kelly Leach for BOE

I'm excited to tell you that Kelly Leach, former president of the Killingworth Women's Organization, will be a candidate for the RSD 17 Board of Education.

Dear Killingworth Residents,

I would like to tell you about a person I am nominating for the BOE position on Thursday.

I'm excited to tell you that Kelly Leach, former president of the Killingworth Women's Organization, will be a candidate for the RSD 17 Board of Education.

Kelly brings a strong commitment to our community, a passion for public service, and excellent organizational and communications skills. For the last seven years, Kelly has been a member of the Killingworth Women's Organization. In a variety of leadership roles, she has worked with a diverse group of women and helped to build a strong service organization that has given us such family events as "Trunk-or-Treat"--when storms threatened Halloween two years in a row--or the Gregory Bousquet Holiday Wish Drive.

As has been my experience with Kelly, she is a woman full of passion for causes (especially our own KWO), full of knowledge, and a full sense of life. Kelly is a doer, and she sees our schools as one of the most important ways in which she can serve the whole community--children, parents, and other taxpayers.

Kelly is a uniter, not a divider, and she will listen to all residents. Her only agenda is fulfilling what she sees as her duty to serve.Kelly is a communicator. She will act as an important link between the town and the school system, broadening opportunities for discourse and understanding.

Kelly holds a bachelors degree in business management from Clark University. She is design supervisor for print and web at Soundings Publications in Essex. She and her husband John are in the process of adopting a school-age child.

As a parent in this district, I believe with my whole heart that Kelly will approach this position with an open mind and open heart. I believe that my children's interest will be served well, as well as my own financial interest in the town and district.

This is a non-partisan position. There is not supposed to be any political agendas here. It is a position that supports our community and the region in the pursuit of education and making sure that the I's and T's are dotted and crossed.

Many Killingworth residents have all been touched and benefited by Kelly and her abilities. I hope that you will support her  at a special town meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, at KES.

With Kind Regards,

Catherine Cyr
