KWO Presents Check to KLA

The Killingworth Women’s Organization presented a check to the Killingworth Library Association totaling $4,437.65 at a recent KWO meeting. The donation represents the proceeds from the benefit event, A Novel Affair, held at the Westbrook Elks Lodge in September to support the library’s activities and programs.

“The Killingworth Women’s Organization has been a strong supporter and valued friend of the library for several years now, and we can’t thank them enough,” said Killingworth Library Association President Alison Karam. “A Novel Affair was an amazing event done with just the right touch of style, class, and fun. The women in KWO are a phenomenal testament to the Killingworth spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.”

Attendees enjoyed a beautiful view of Long Island Sound, dined, danced, and bid on an array of auction items including an aerial tour, a day of fishing, a sailboat cruise, lunch on the Thimble Islands, autographed books, a flat screen TV, and the opportunity to race a Ferrari.

The KWO has helped raise more than $18,000 for the Library since 2010.

Killingworth Library Association is a private, non-profit organization run by 18 volunteer board members responsible for raising over $87,000 of the Library’s operating budget this year, with the Town funding the rest.
