East Haddam Superintendent Writes Letter; Says No DCF Checks

Some say it can't be true, that it couldn't be true. I say it shouldn't be true. Dr. Marybeth Iacobelli sent a letter saying the the East Haddam Board Of Education does not conduct background checks through the Department Of Children and Families. The letter is with this post for viewing.
This means that Dr. Iacobelli was hired without this mandatory background as was the High School Assistant Principal Steven Strand and any other BOE employees hired after July 2011 that have contact with our kids. 
How can a superintendent not know that this needs to be done? What are they hiding from the parents and the taxpayers of East Haddam? Or, should I dare ask what ELSE are they hiding? They can not be hired without the DCF checks as noted by Terry D. in a previous post. 
These actions put the entire district at risk as well as the town as a whole. 
The administration should do the right thing and resign their employment with the  East Haddam BOE and be on their way. Again. 
The employees without the checks should be made to submit. This includes the criminal backgrounds that can not be located.
