Health & Fitness

To be or not to be...

Two-thirds of Americans are overweight or obese, and several clothing stores are marketing cute clothes for bigger people. We’re getting used to big figures and we start accepting facts that being overweight is a part of our society and it’s tolerable. Unfortunately it’s a very dangerous trend.

It is a big difference between body shape and body size. We all were granted different shapes and we cannot control that; however we need to control the size of our body shape. Many don’t understand this and they are putting their health in jeopardy by not exercising, not taking care of their diet, and not lowering their body fat percentage to the accurate level. Many illnesses of the 20th and 21st century are manmade illnesses. High blood pressure, diabetes, and even some types of cancer are caused by poor nutrition and that is only the few mentioned. Your body will look absolutely beautiful in a round shape only if it’s genetically preset and muscular. You cannot change heredity however you can and should change as well as control and take care of the muscular structure in your body. Your muscular system is the one which allows you to move forward. If you won’t build it up the strength, you will lose it eventually.

Many people, who come to me and ask for help don’t realize that working towards a strong, healthy body takes time and patience. It’s harder with age to achieve muscular structure only because after the age of 30 we tend to lose lean muscle mass by 1% every year. With age we need to adjust our routines, work slightly harder, and watch what we eat more often. With age we need to be more persistent to be able to see results.

To be or not to be healthy should not be a rhetorical question. We should ask ourselves constantly: do I want to deal with doctors, medications, low energy level, and pain? Do I want to be a part of the two-thirds of society that is overweight? Do I want to accept the condition my body is in? We can find these answers easily only if we don’t fall into the negative, lazy, dreadful side of ourselves. Change is not easy, change needs time and effort, change requires consistent work. Change to a positive lifestyle will bring reward and happiness. We need to understand that only in our fantasy world does everything fall into place perfectly and is taking care of without attempt. If you choose personal growth, you will be rewarded with a beautiful body shape in the right size. You will be rewarded with health.

The New Year marks a fresh start. Make the most of this favorable time by implementing positive thoughts into your mind, clean up your act, and rid off any dreadful energy. Start your long life journey with one step, be patient and persistent. Focus on the practice instead of the end performance and you will find your end result bigger than expected. Get up, move, and be more fit in your body shape.
