I hope you and yours had a very happy and safe holiday season. This year the tragic events in Newtown weighed heavily on our hearts and, for many, made it difficult to fully enjoy the holidays as we normally might. Keep the memories of those in Newtown and those that responded to the crisis, close to your heart.
As we head in to the New Year, we should all strive to do what we can to make our world a better place. One way you can help locally, is to purchase discounted wrapping paper over the next week--drop it off at MP Impressions in Moodus and we will be donating it toEHYFS Christmas 2013. One friend spoke with a local business who agreed to donate whatever he had left, maybe you would consider asking your favorite business to do the same?
I am thrilled to begin my work "officially" as your new State Representative! I will be sworn in at the State Capitol on January 9th. Over the last few weeks, the freshmen legislators have attended numerous meetings and training sessions to prepare for the challenges ahead. I have been appointed to serve on the legislature's Environment, Public Health and Appropriations committees. There are many important issues that we as a state must tackle in the coming months and I cannot wait to get started.
Of utmost importance to me is keeping an open line of communication with those in the 34th district. Your ideas, issues and concerns are paramount. Start the New Year locally at The Annual Resolution Race in Colchester! Begin bright and early January 1st, 2013 at Bacon Academy. I participated last year and had a great time. For more information check here. Since I came in second to last last year...my resolution is not to come in last this year!
