A Harley for a Healthy Community Bash!

Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth has been presented with a fundraiser of a lifetime. Anne MacDonald, of East Haddam, has generously donated a  Black 2013 FLHX Street Glide Harley Davidson with Cruise Control to be raffled off as the Grand Prize of the September 15, 2013 First Annual Bash to benefit Youth and Family Services of Haddam-Killingworth, Inc.. Only two-thousand tickets will be sold and the lucky winner will walk away with a brand new Harley Davidson! Each ticket will be sold for $25.00 and will include an afternoon of live music and food at the historic Gelston House on the scenic Connecticut River. Iso Dedushaj, of the Gelston House, immediately offered to donate his services to YFSHK.  Both Ms. MacDonald and Mr.Dedushaj have a history of giving back to others, so it was no surprise that they each wanted to contribute to the mission of YFSHK.

Youth and Family Services, a private non-profit agency, provides an assortment of services to all the residents of the Haddam and Killingworth communities. Counseling services for families, children, adolescents, couples, individuals and groups are offered on a sliding fee scale so that no one is ever turned away. Licensed and graduate level Marriage and Family Therapists provide critical services for those facing challenges in their lives including: divorce, blended families, depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, family conflict, and phobias. Our Prevention Services aid in the community effort utilizing the 40 Developmental Assets to raise productive, competent citizens. Kathryn Glendon, Prevention Coordinator, oversees the Healthy Communities – Healthy Kids Coalition to prevent underage drinking and keep our youth safe. There is also an Early Childhood Coordinator that works with the youngest of our communities to engage and support their development. Our Juvenile Review Board, consisting of volunteer community members and our staff, offers and alternative to the Juvenile Justice system for first time offenders 17 and under.
