Santa’s Coming to Town… on a Fire Truck!

UPDATE: Due to the winter storm, the Children's Christmas Party has been moved to Saturday, December 21. See you there!

Evidently kids (and firefighters) aren’t the only ones who think fire trucks are cool.

“I love my sleigh and reindeer, but sometimes I just want to ride in a fire truck,” Santa said in an email today from the North Pole. “And after red and green, yellow is my favorite color!”

According to Haddam Fire Chief Sam Baber, Santa is excited to get a break from his workshop and see all of his friends in Haddam again.

Santa will help kick off the holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 21 at the annual Children’s Christmas Party hosted at Haddam Volunteer Fire Company Station 1. The FREE party is open to all Higganum-Haddam children up to age 10.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. with lights and sirens blazing on a shiny yellow fire truck. He will work his way through the crowd, meeting and welcoming all the children and their families.

Children are invited to visit Santa and receive an age- and gender-specific gift. The Fire Company takes a digital photo and prints it out for parents. Cookies, candy canes, cider and coffee are also provided, and the Fire Company’s Auxiliary will be raffling off gift baskets. The event typically goes until 8 p.m. or until the last child has seen Santa.

Save the date and see you there!
