Underage Drinking Patrols: Haddam & Killingworth Resident State Troopers

As summer is approaching and school is ending, the Connecticut Resident State Troopers from Haddam and Killingworth are concentrating on underage drinking and drug prevention.

The Haddam and Killingworth Resident State Troopers partner with Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids Coalition to help reduce underage drinking, through Party Patrols and Controlled Party Dispersal.

According to Haddam Resident Trooper Enrico Milardo, on May 3rd at approximately 9:00 p.m., Troop F Dispatch received a call from a Higganum resident, regarding the erratic operation of a white Volvo wagon with male teen occupants.

The Volvo was located by police on Gunger Hill Road shortly thereafter.

The operator, 18-year-old  Griffin Bremer of Pokorny Road, Higganum was subsequently arrested for having a Weapon in a Motor Vehicle (replica 45-caliber pellet gun located under driver seat) Possession of Alcohol by a Minor, Possession of Marijuana (less than 4 oz.), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bremer was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and scheduled to appear at Middletown Superior Court on 5/15/14.

Two other male teen juveniles were in the car as well and released to their parents at the scene.

“The Coalition’s support of law enforcement is crucial in keeping the youth safe,” said Trooper Milardo.

Party Patrols are conducted throughout the year. The coalition has an anonymous tip line (860-663-1765) where community members can report suspected underage drinking, drug use and/or unsupervised parties.

Comprised of dedicated volunteers and youth service agencies in Haddam and Killingworth, the Healthy Communities-Healthy Kids Coalition is engaging youth and adults in advancing wellness.

Funding is provided by the Drug Free Communities Support Program of the U.S. Department of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
