Second Annual Killingworth Library Crossword Tournament

Do you enjoy solving crossword puzzles, starting off with the easy one on Monday, and flexing more mental muscles as the week goes on?  Do you wish that your cruciverbalism didn’t have to be a solitary activity?  The Killingworth Library has the event for you!  Our tournament will be a shorter version of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, which has been an annual event for over 30 years.  The puzzles we will use are provided by Will Shortz, ACPT founder and New York Times Crossword Puzzle Editor.  They are four not-yet-published NY Times puzzles, ranging in difficulty from Monday to Thursday.  Accuracy and speed will rule the day, but there will be a separate winners category for those who have never competed in a tournament before. If you have seen the movie Wordplay about the 2005 ACPT, and always wanted to see what it would be like to compete, this is your chance!  Even if you are a more leisurely solver, come enjoy the afternoon with other puzzlers and enjoy the shared solving experience. Our first tournament last year was a lot of fun!

Seating is limited, so please register in advance by calling the Killingworth Library at 860-663-2000, stopping by in person, or sending an email to treasurer@killingworthlibrary.org with your name, address, and telephone number.  There is a $10 registration fee, payable at the door.  Bring your favorite crossword solving pencil (or pen?)!  The doors will open at 12:30pm, and warmup puzzles will be available.
