Community Corner

Easter Community Cross Walk

Every Good Friday, (this Year - April 18th), there is a Community Cross Walk in East Haddam. The start time is 8:00 A.M. at St. Bridget's Church and ends about 12:00 P.M at St. Stephen's Church.  The distance is about 5 miles.  We literally carry a cross from place to place with a 10 to 15 minute message at each stop.  It starts at St. Bridgets then we'll be going to the Moodus Green, The Moodus United  Methodist Church, Chestelm Adult Day Services, The First Church of Church, Christ Community, and finally St. Stephen's Church.  There will be 7 ministers speaking, one at each stop.  We share in carrying the cross, but never alone. We share in the burden. You can join us at any point in the walk and stop at any time.  This year's theme is "Words From The Cross."  Each Clergy will speak on one of the sayings spoken by Jesus when he was on the Cross. Refreshments will be offered along our journey.  Dress for the weather.  Don't worry about a ride home.  You can park at any of the Churches and someone will give you a ride back to your car.  5 miles may seem like a long walk, but we rest at every stop.  From the 6th stop to the 7th stop is about 2 miles, literally, all down hill.   Everyone is welcome to join us!  If you want, you can make the trip in your car.  A few people do that.  No offerings will be taken at any of the stops.  This is everyone's chance to get a closer look at what Jesus did on the Cross for each and everyone of us.  Last year, we had about 35 walkers.  We're hoping for 45 to 50 this year.  If anyone would like to discuss it further, you may contact Kathy Boyce @ 860-873-1830, (cbkbtb@sbcglobal.net).
