HK Girl Scout Service Unit- Celebrates GS Thinking Day

The HK Girl Scout Service Unit celebrated Girl Scout Thinking day on March 22, 2014 by making fleece blankets for children and youth.

The Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Ambassador Scouts made a total of 53 fleece blankets that were distributed between the Solnit Children’s Center, Middletown and CCMC in Hartford.

The girls did a fabulous job of completing 53 blankets in less than 2 hours. There were 112 girls with parents. It was amazing and their dedication to helping others is tremendous.

This project started out with my suggestion of making the fleece blankets for the Solnit facility back in January. My  daughter's now Ambassador Scout troop has been making fleece blankets since they were in 2nd grade and they are now seniors in high school. They made them for different organizations over the years.

I thought this would be a great project for the service unit and it took off and next year we will need a different facility to make the blankets since we had so many girls making the blankets.
