As of Wednesday evening, power is still not fully restored, HK Middle School is open for showers and there is an overnight shelter available in nearby Deep River.

Post-Sandy Update

All roads in town are now open, but only about half the town has power. It is likely to take several more days before power is fully restored.

The shelter at HK Middle School will be open for showers, water, and recharging daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. as long as a significant portion of the town lacks power. Bring your own towel and toiletries.

If you need a warm place to spend the night, shelter is available at the John Winthrop Middle School, 1 Winthrop Road, Deep River. This shelter has warm meals as well as showers and recharging. If you need transportation to the shelter, you may call Dial-a-Ride at 860 510-0429 for a ride between 6:15 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. You may call for same day service.
