Work Begins on Skate Park in East Haddam

Stay tuned to Patch for updates, photos and interviews as we follow the progress of the Hunter Daniels-Dan Dombrowski Skate Park.

After years of planning, ground has been broken on the site of the new skate park in East Haddam. The skate park is located in the back parking lot of the old middle school, adjacent to the tennis courts.

According to the skate park committee, the site was chosen because “it is visible and safely accessible for the kids” and it “requires minimal site work and therefore reduces the cost of preparing the site for building.” $55,000 in funds had been raised for the project.

Hunter Daniels-Dan Dombroski Skate Park commemorates two local teenagers who were killed in a 1999 car accident. Both boys were on the original skate park committee.

The skate park committee is currently under the direction of the East Haddam Department of Parks and Recreation, which is taking the lead as the project moves forward. Parks and Rec. will also oversee the park once completed.
