East Haddam Snow Updates: Schools Closed Monday

East Haddam public works has been working diligently to open all the roads, clear travel sight lines and open up cul-de-sacs.

From East Haddam Emergency Management

East Haddam public works has been working diligently to open all the roads, clear travel sight lines and open up cul-de-sacs. Because of the depth of the snow they are having difficulty moving the snow with plow trucks and have had to bring in front loaders to move the snow. Great progress was made with these loaders but there is still much more work to be done.

With all of the snow on the roads and the limited sight lines drivers need to SLOW DOWN and be extremely cautious when traveling the roads, especially when approaching intersections.

Due to the remaining issues on the roads, the superintendent partnered with the town and a decision has been made there will be no school tomorrow, Monday February 11, 2013.

Additionally, there are many residents that are in need of assistance clearing snow from their vehicles, driveways and walkways.  If you are one of those in need of assistance or if you are available to help with shovels or equipment we are asking that you call the East Haddam Town Hall Monday after 9 AM.  The number for the town hall is 860-873-5020.

Residents are reminded of the importance of ensuring that all fresh air vents from your house are clear of snow. This includes furnace, water heater and dryer vents.  Blocked vents create a very dangerous situation which can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

With the forecast for rain tomorrow, there is an increased concern for potential roof issues due to the additional weight.  Please be sure to monitor your roof and remove the deep snow,  especially that snow which has built up on flat roofs.

Should you have issues or concerns please call East Haddam Emergency Management at 860-873-5103.

We thank everyone for their patience throughout this storm.
