Road Closures and Powerline Damage

Crews throughout the state are working on damage caused by last night's storm.

Due to severe thunderstorms last night, several power and phone lines are down throughout the state and in the towns of East Haddam and Haddam.

According to an announcement from the EH Emergency Management Department, AT&T workers have confirmed that Town Street in East Haddam will be closed between East Haddam-Colchester Tpk and Old Kentwood Rd until at least 6pm tonight due to crews repairing lines damaged in last night's storm.

Additionally, Boardman Rd above Maple Ave will be open to local traffic only. Major repair work is underway by AT&T in these areas.

The storm caused what is considered to be a moderate amount of tree and power line damage across the state. A total of 6,560 customers were reported by CL&P and UI without power as of 8am thursday morning.

Connecticut and the rest of New England are at a slight risk for additional severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
