Killingworth Women’s Organization Holding Fall Festival

This Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., fall fun for all ages is coming to Parmelee Farm in Killingworth!  The Killingworth Women's Organization (KWO) is hosting the event featuring hayrides through the farm, local artisans and crafters offering their wares, games, a pie-eating contest, touch-a-truck, a wide variety of foods, free pony rides, pumpkin decorating and more!  This is the first festival event of its kind in Killingworth, and the proceeds will go back to the community.
 
"The event is what we hope to be a first of many in our town.  We are bringing together all the wonderful activities and elements of the season for all to enjoy in one beautiful afternoon at Killingworth's historic Parmelee Farm.  Not only will there be activities for all ages - hay rides, pie eating contest, touch-a-truck, pony rides ... but plenty of food and beverages that we all enjoy as the season starts to change ... and our local artisans and crafters will have the opportunity to display and sell their wares," says Lisa Goetze-Keiser, KWO's Public Relations Chair. 

"Time to get a head start on holiday shopping, or to be a little selfish and treat yourself to something nice!  The leaves are changing, the air has turned crisp and it's time to celebrate fall!" she adds.

According to Goetz-Keiser, "The funds raised from the Fall Festival will be used to support our scholarship gifts and additional community events and endeavors. A portion of the funds raised will be given to Parmelee Farm to support them in their efforts to restore the property and make it usable for the whole Killingworth community."

Two crucial contributions come to the KWO from the which is giving free pony rides, and Running Brook Farms, which is providing pumpkins for decorating.

The KWO hopes to raise at least $1000 to support the various efforts.

As of this writing, the Festival has 21 vendors including groups in town such as Haddam-Killingworth Youth & Family Services, the Killingworth Historical Society, the Killingworth Library, and the Killingworth Lions Club. Some of the private sector vendors include: Tastefully Simple, Thirty One Bags, handmade scarves by Chris Cronin, woven baskets by Charlene Torello, Avon, creative wood turning By David Wendt, mini hobo bags, jewelry and accessories by Michelle Nuhn, hair accessories by The Posh Princess, candy apples, Zen Roasters, Senegence makeup, Pink Zebra candles and accessories, Juice Plus, and The Whey Station gourmet grilled cheese truck.

“The Parmelee Steering Committee is delighted to support another KWO event at the Farm. We know residents and their guests will enjoy the event and are welcome to explore the farm,” said Parmelee Committee Member Peg Scofield, noting that the Farm is available for events and open to the public free of charge.

Fall Festival proceeds will benefit Parmelee Farm, Haddam-Killingworth scholarships and other civic projects.  The cost is $3 per person and $5 per family. Parking is available at Haddam-Killingworth Middle School.  Rain date, Sunday, October 14th.
