East Haddam Residents and Business Owners,
You may or may not know, a State website has been set up for STORM SANDY NEWS AND INFORMATION - www.ct.gov/sandy. This website includes information on Federal disaster aid, how to help, up to the minute announcements from the Governor and links to other important disaster recovery information.
Additionally, Governor Malloy announced that FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers (DRCs) are now open in New Haven, Old Saybrook and Groton to assist home owners and businesses affected by Storm Sandy.
Any individuals or businesses who have suffered losses or damages as a result of Storm Sandy should visit a center and work with the staff there to review the benefits they are entitled to.
Some of the services offered by the DRCs may include:
- Guidance regarding disaster recovery
- Clarification of any written correspondence received
- Housing Assistance and Rental Resource information
- Answers to questions, resolution to problems and referrals to agencies that may provide further assistance
- Status of applications being processed by FEMA
- SBA program information if there is a SBA Representative at the Disaster Recovery Center site
Residents or businesses who suffered damage or loss as a result of Storm Sandy, are encouraged to register with FEMA before visiting the recovery center by either calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or by going online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. For those with speech or hearing disabilities, the TTY number is 800-462-7585.
