Music, Grilled Cheese and Candidates

The Higganum Village Farmers Market is a-buzz with activity for October 14th.

This Friday’s Market features so many events our heads are spinning! We have local nutritionist and Market Board member Linda Fleming on hand to discuss healthy foods; while we also invite back for another afternoon of meeting and greeting Haddam’s Politcal Parties on the Green! In addition, we’re hosting a Manly Man Music Concert, as the Market welcomes back two favorite entertainers, Bill Benson (at left in photo) and Conrad “Coyote” Doty appearing together, plus – new favorite mobile food Vendors “The Whey Station," serving up wholesome autumn vittles!

Bill and Coyote perform regularly at LaSalle’s Market – a food and music venue in the historic Collinsville section of Canton, CT. Each plays music firmly based in rock/folk genre, and Conrad adds a bit of the blues to his work. Bill’s increasingly popular tune “Porch Time,” is gaining a wide local following, and he’s been in talks with the town of Canton to pair his song with a visual display on Canton’s Town page of local porches. Most recently, Bill performed at a benefit concert to raise funds for Manchester’s Cheney Hall in concert (along with other favorite market musicians, The Guinea Pigs and Eric Paradine). Upcoming events for Coyote include performing at the “Steam Vent” Coffee House, at the First Church of Winsted, Friday, November 12th. Bill is slated headline events at “Earthstock,” on November 22, at the Flatbread Company, at the Shoppes at Farmington Valley in Canton.

What goes better with music and the goodness of an autumn day? Karaoke and Grilled Cheese! In between sets from Bill and Conrad, we’re doing some vendor and market-goer talent! Sign up to sing your heart out to all the crowds at the Market Manager’s tent!

Then, line up to get the planet’s best (sorry, mom!) grilled cheese sandwich, brought to you by The Whey Station, our market’s newest Food Vendor! Scrumptious and luscious, gorgeous grilled cheese from LOCAL farms! Then stay to check out one of Haddam’s most beloved events, the “Harvest Hoe Down” right across the street from Higganum Green at Haddam Elementary School. You cannot have a better time, anywhere in the whole county!
