Emergency Operations Update for Haddam

With Sandy being anticipated to majorly impact the area, Haddam First Selectman Paul DeStefano issues an update on shelter and emergency operations for the town.

We are on the brink of a serious weather event that will impact our town and region over the next several days. We are expecting significant power outages, road closures, and flooding. Over the weekend, we have been working with the State Department of Emergency Services and all emergency service components here in Haddam to prepare a response to this massive storm.

The town emergency operations center will be open at noon on Monday, Oct 29 and will remain open for the duration of the storm. The EOC phone number is (860) 345-8032. This number and all other emergency number are listed on the Town’s web site, and on the emergency mailer that was sent to you earlier this year.

At this time, we ask that you remain vigilant for your neighbors in need.

We will be opening the HK High School Shelter on Monday at 4pm for limited services.

The HK Middle School will serve as our regional shelter.

Cell phone and computer charging stations will be located at each firehouse during power outages and other town buildings as they reopen throughout the week.

Please remember to be as specific as you can when reporting incidents and conditions to our emergency operations center so that we can coordinate an effective response.

Thank you.

Haddam First Selectman Paul DeStefano

The State of Connecticut has billions in unfunded pension obligations thanks to the money managementRead More ablities of our state treasurers over the years. Only an AFSCME union boss would trust them.
