East Haddam to Open Overnight Shelter

Due to the cold weather, East Haddam will be opening a shelter at the East Haddam Senior Center located at 15 Great Hill Wood Road in Moodus.

 

This is an update from Emergency Management Director Craig Mansfield and First Selectman Mark Walter. 

Power has been restored to almost 90% of our community at this time. Due to the cold weather, East Haddam will be opening a shelter at the East Haddam Senior center located at 15 Great Hill Wood Road in Moodus.  

The shelter will open at 7 p.m. tonight and remain open as long as needed. 

If you decide on using the shelter, please bring for each individual:

  • Pillow
  • Blanket
  • Personal toiletries
  • Personal clothing and items
  • Medications 

Pets will not be allowed at the shelter. If you need help getting to the shelter, please call the Senior Call Center at860-873-5034. 

Residents are asked to continue to check on elderly neighbors and friends to ensure they have power or are not in need of assistance.  If you know of people who may not have phone please let them know that a shelter will be available. 

Mark Walter and Craig Mansfield will be available at project Halloween tonight from 5-8 PM manning an information both around the recovery efforts in town.
