East Haddam Schools to Participate in Moment of Silence

Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed a proclamation declaring Friday, December 21, 2012, a "Day of Mourning" in the State of Connecticut and is requesting that residents statewide participate in a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m.

 

In response to the CT Department of Education’s request, East Haddam Public Schools will participate in a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning in support of the Newtown community and Sandy Hook Elementary School. 

Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed a proclamation declaring Friday, December 21, 2012, a "Day of Mourning" in the State of Connecticut and is requesting that residents statewide participate in a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. The Governor is also requesting houses of worship and government buildings that have the capability, to ring bells 26 times.

This moment of silence will be introduced in our schools as “a moment in support of the Newtown community and the Newtown schools.” 

Although we will not make overt reference to the events at Sandy Hook Elementary School, teachers and staff will be prepared to respond to student questions and concerns.
