Five things to know for Monday, August 27, 2012.

1. Weather: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Partly sunny with a high near 81. For tonight, a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9 p.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 68.

2. Irene: Tuesday marks the one-year anniversary of Hurricane, downgraded to Tropical Storm, Irene. I was out of power for 9 days following the storm! Hauling water from our back river to flush our toilets, not so much fun.
