Moodus Reservoir Preservation Group

From the desk of the President:

Incorporation papers for the Moodus Reservoir Preservation Group  (MRPG) have been filed with the Secretary of State, and our next step will be to qualify for IRS non-profit status, 501 (c) 3, granting tax deductible status to all donations. This has resulted from our August 1 meeting to which all lake property owners and other East Haddam residents were invited.

The meeting was well attended and many people volunteered to help with the process by signing up and getting involved.

In early September, a small group met to plan these actions and how to progress with the Weed Management and Membership Committees.

The Weed Management Committee is interviewing treatment vendors and consultants to determine the best, safest methods to control the Fanwort, Milfoil and other invasive and intrusive plants that have recently been studied and identified in the Moodus Reservoir.

Committees are being formed for fund raising, water monitoring and setting up a web site.

We will hold a general meeting to adopt the by-laws and elect corporate officers and directors in the near future.

For information or to get on our distribution list, e-mail us at Moodus.Reservoir@gmail.com or send a request by mail to MRPG, 86 Falls Bashan Rd, Moodus, CT 06469.
