East Haddam Historical Society and Museum

East Haddam-June 14, 2014: The East Haddam Historical Society & Museum will be hosting a Tag and Bake Sale on Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Free cookbooks will be given out to the first 100 people who stop by. Bring the whole family to meet baby goats. Purchase a hot dog and enjoy lunch on the lawn.

The museum building will also be open on June 14 for free as part of the statewide CT Open House Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Come in and check out the museum's newest exhibit, From the Ground Up: A history of agriculture in East Haddam.

Donations for the tag sale can be made in advance by dropping off items on the front porch. Please, no TV's, exercise equipment, file cabinets or electrical equipment.  For more information on the tag and bake sale, call 860-873-2188.

The East Haddam Historical Society, founded over 50 years ago, is located just around the corner from Gillette Castle, right on the Route 82 corridor. The museum has a diverse collection of local antiquities and curiosities.

There is also a small gift shop featuring antique jewelry, books by local authors, pottery and other unique items. For questions about the museum, call 860-873-3944.

The museum is open May 30 through Columbus Day, Friday through Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and by appointment. Tickets are $5 per adult; children under 12 free.
