Job Posting: Site Director/Head Teacher: YMCA After School Program (East Haddam, CT)

The Middlesex YMCA is recruiting a Site Director to work with children in kindergarten through third grades in our state licensed after school program located in East Haddam, CT. Individuals must have previous childcare experience and be enthusiastic, reliable and motivated. Individuals will be hired based on their ability to be positive role models for children and to demonstrate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Position Requirements:
*Candidate must be at least 20 years of age and a high school graduate with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education or a related field and 270 hours of experience working with school age children or 12 college credits in child development, education or a related field and 540 hours of experience working with school age children.
*Candidate must regularly attend trainings and other professional development opportunities (provided by the YMCA).
*Candidate must a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
*Candidate must be CT Department of Public Health School Age Head Teacher Certified or able to obtain certification (based on education requirements listed above).
*Current TB Test and Physical or the ability to obtain these items upon employment.
*Current CPR and First Aid Certification and Medication Certifications (will provide upon hiring).
*All candidates will receive a DCF and criminal background check in order to be eligible for employment.

Job Duties Include:
*Supervision of program staff.
*Providing a caring, comfortable and safe environment for children in the program.
*Plan, implement and organize age appropriate academic, recreational and enrichment activities.
*Communicate with and foster a positive working relationship with program parents and school personnel.
*Handle all administrative responsibilities (licensing, scheduling, etc).
*Properly maintain program materials.
*Ensure that all state and local health department regulations are being followed at all times.
*Ensure that the program is in compliance with all YMCA policies and procedures.
*Work and supervise vacation day and snow day programs when necessary.

This job is part time (20 hours per week). The hours are Monday through Friday from 3-6 pm (plus 5 hours per week paid planning time) and the hourly wage is $13.00 to $15.25 per hour based on experience. This position is a seasonal position (school year 2013-2014). Summer employment is available through the Middlesex YMCA in other departments.
