The Buzz on Beekeeping

Ned Farrell's popular presentation on beekeeping returns to Killingworth.

Area beekeeper Ned Farrell knows the secret to “bee-ing” happy. For him, it’s keeping honeybees. He shares his passion for this hobby—now his profession—in an encore presentation of Hobby Beekeeping brought to you by the Killingworth Library on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at 7 p.m.

Farrell, who owns and operates The Bee Happy Company with his wife, Sharyn, will demonstrate how to start a honeybee hive and share his knowledge of the fascinating inner workings of the hive.

A beekeeper with more than 20 years’ experience, Farrell has even worked with African “killer” bees while serving in the Peace Corps in Paraguay. He will show audience members how simple and fun it can be to care for their very own bees.

The presentation will be followed by a question-and-answer session. Raw honey, all-natural beeswax lip balm, rolled beeswax candles and Bee Happy honey gift baskets will also be available for sale.
