Local East Haddam Businessman Receives Award

Marty Witkowski, co-owner of The Carriage House, is the recipient of the East Haddam Business Spotlight Award.

 

Marty Witkowski and the business he co-owns with his son Michael, The Carriage House, Goodspeed Plaza, East Haddam, has received the town’s Business Spotlight Award, presented by the East Haddam Democratic Town Committee.

It reads, “The Carriage House has demonstrated outstanding community service through its support of Boy Scouts, Lions Club, Hale-Ray Graduation Project and Yearbook, Ray of Light Farm, Little League, Community Holiday Tree Lighting, and Music on the River.”

The award was signed and presented by Brad Parker, DTC Chair, and John Blaschik, Democratic Selectman.

The Carriage House location has provided forms of transportation since before the Civil War, all the way back to horse and buggy days.  Today, instead of a wheelwright, the certified mechanic is Bobby Clark, with more than 35 years of experience.

“We take care of local customers,” Marty said, “and repair all makes and models and sell used cars.  I’ve been in the car business over 45 years.”
