This Weekend: Tales of the Underground Railroad Performance

Music at the Meetinghouse Winter Concert Series brings Nzinga's Daughters to the First Church of Christ, Congregational in East Haddam.

 

In honor of Black History Month, the East Haddam Historical Society and the First Church of Christ Congregational are co-sponsoring a performance of Nzinga's Daughters on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m.

Nzinga's Daughters has "developed a theme around the Underground Railroad and through poetry, stories and song, they reveal coded message that were hidden in the Negro Spirituals and everyday objects."

The Underground Railroad presentation is acapella except for various percussion instruments. The event is suitable for all ages. The performance includes a story, poetry and songs. For more information on Nzinga's Daughters, click here.

Tickets are $15. Advance Sale tickets are $12 and children are $5.

The First Church of Christ, Congregational is located at 499 Town Street in
