Take the Family for a Classical Night out This Saturday

On November 17, Killingworth Congregational Church hosts ‘A Classical Night Out.’

 

The Haven String Quartet will provide an evening of music for the whole family at Killingworth Congregational Church, 273 Route 81, on Saturday, November 17. It will hold a Family Music Workshop from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., followed by a concert at 7:30 p.m.

The theme of the family workshop is Around the World with the Haven String Quartet. For $5, take your family on an international musical journey with the Arts Center of Killingworth and the Haven String Quartet. Sing, dance and clap to music of Peruvian, Chinese and Lithuanian origins.

At 7:30, the quartet will be back to perform a concert of music from around the world. The program will include works by Peruvian composer Gabriela Lena Frank, Cuban American jazz legend Paquite D’Rivera and Iranian-born Reza Vali.

Tickets cost $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, $15 for students, and $10 for children under 10. Reservations are required. To make yours, click here

Members of the Haven String Quartet have appeared at famous musical venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and have graduated from renowned schools such as Yale, Juilliard and the New England Conservatory. They are teaching artists who provide free music education and world-class chamber music performances to residents in New Haven’s most underserved neighborhoods.
