On Wednesday, Goodspeed Musicals will host Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, along with several other special guests, to tour the nearly completed multi-million dollar "Artists Village" project.
Malloy will meet with construction crews for the 17 building project and make a public statement on the economic impact of the village.
When asked why Goodspeed Musicals took on this milti-million dollar project, Dan Mahon, Director of Marketing and co-project manager for the building project, said "Goodspeed is a great, top-level place for actors to work and we didn't have enough housing for the actors, writers, directors and crew that come to work with us."
The construction project, considered a green building project, includes energy efficient windows and appliances, geothermal heating and a pervious concrete driveway for water runoff control.
"This 'green' project was successful in providing jobs to employees of Connecticut based businesses and is expected to become the catalyst for transforming a small town center into a major tourist destination," stated a press release for the event.
