Karmic Relief: A Special Valentine's Day show featuring Comedy On Demand

The Sanctuary at Shepardfields presents the Second Annual Karmic Relief Fund-Raiser, February 12 at The Deep River Town Hall Theater

E. Haddam, CT, January 24, 2011 – Following up on the memorable evening of the first incarnation last year, the Sanctuary (oursanctuary.org) is organizing the second annual “Karmic Relief” event this Valentine’s Day weekend, Saturday, February 12. In addition to food, live lounge music by the Karmic Relief Band and a silent auction, the event will feature the famed antics of Comedy On Demand comedy improv troupe, offering hilarity themed on the travails of the spiritual life.

Comedy On Demand (www.codcomedy.com) performances involve lots of audience participation and Karmic Relief will include spoofs on dating games and other Valentines’ Day rituals, making the event a perfect romantic adventure for friends and lovers alike. Certainly a time and place to (re)meet your soul mate. 

This year’s event is a fund-raiser for the Community Greenhouse Project at the Sanctuary at Shepardfields. The project involves the creation of a sustainable living laboratory, a four season community garden, and a community meeting space. It is a key component in the Sanctuary’s mission to create a fully self-sufficient infrastructure to educate and promote sustainable and non-violent ways of livelihood which value and protect our community’s health, wealth and happiness. In addition to the Greenhouse Project, a portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries. The plan for the greenhouse is to help support the kitchens with food grown on the property once it is fully operational.
