Best Bets For the Weekend

It's Thursday, and you've got no idea what to do this weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue.

1. An Easter Apple Hunt at Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield., Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–1 p.m.  All children not pre-registered can still participate in the Apple Hunt, however space is limited and a $3 per-child fee will apply to those registering the day of the event. Changes, such as limiting the amount of children and the amount of assistance parents can give a child, are based on feedback given from previous participants. Apple Hunt Schedule: Horse drawn wagon rides: 9 a.m.-1 p.m.; Apple Barrel Deck & Field Food Concessions: Open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Apple Hunt times, by age group, are: 12 months-3 year olds, 10:30 a.m.; 4-6 year olds, 11:15 a.m.;  7-10 year olds, noon.

 2. Terpsichore's Spring Dance Concert at Wesleyan University, 70 Wyllys Ave., Middletown, Saturday at 2 p.m. Tickets for Wesleyan students, non-Wesleyan students, faculty and seniors are $4. General admission is $5.

 3. Ivoryton Playhouse: "How the Other Half Lives," 102 Main St., Ivoryton. Weekly on Saturdays, Sundays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Sunday performances at 7:30 p.m. Matinees are at 2 p.m. adults, $40; seniors (65 and Older), $35; students: $20; children (12 & Under), $15. Tickets may be purchased online by phone at 860-767-7318 or in person at the  box office.

4. Tag Sale to Benefit Rescue Dogs, 410 Blake Road, New Britain, Saturday. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sponsored by the CT Underhound Railroad all of the items being sold have been donated and 100 percent of the proceeds go to help the volunteer group that saves the lives of dogs on death row in Connecticut and throughout the country. If the sale is canceled due to rain another date will be picked for the near future. Check out their website or visit them on Facebook to learn more and read the stories of the dogs that are alive today because of them. No public restrooms are available. Parking is available on Blake Road and Eric Court. Please do not walk on the grass.

 5. Easter Egg Hunt - Middletown, free. Where: Farm Hill Elementary School, 390 Ridge Road. Saturday, 10 a.m. The hunt times are 10 a.m., for those 12 and under; 10:05, 3 and under; 10:20, 4 & 5 year olds; 10:35, 6 & 7 year olds; 10:50, 8 & 9 year olds; 11:05; 10-12 year olds. Please arrive about 20 minutes ahead of time.
