Herbicide Treatment in Lower Moodus Reservoir Postponed

Representative Melissa Ziobron confirms on her Facebook page that the herbicide treatment planned for Thursday, July 18, has been postponed.

After a petition and letters of opposition to a planned herbicide treatment in the Lower Moodus Reservoir began circulating over the last week, it has now been announced that the treatment has been postponed.

The Glyphosate treatment was approved by the DEEP, and was planned for Thursday, July 18 at a private residence to target water lilies.

Earlier today, Rep. Melissa Ziobron, who herself wrote a letter to the DEEP concerning the matter, posted this on her Facebook page, announcing the postponement:

I just confirmed that the herbicide spraying scheduled for tomorrow has been POSTPONED! More details later.

The topic now appears on the Board of First Selectman meeting agenda for Wednesday, July 17 at 7 PM at Grange Hall. Patch will have more details as they become available.
