Ferry Fares Slated to Double as of July 1

Public meetings will be held this week by the CT Department of Transportation to hear public comment on the proposed ferry rate hike.

The State of CT is considering a proposal to raise the cost to cross the CT River by ferry. The rate hike would double the current fare, raising it from $3 to $6 for a one-way crossing per motor vehicle.

The last time ferry rates were raised was back in 2003. The fare increase would impact both the Chester-Hadlyme and the Rocky Hill-Glastonbury ferries.

In Rocky Hill, the public meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Rocky Hill Community Center, Room one.

In Chester, the public meeting will take place on May 22nd at 6:30 p.m. at the Chester Meeting House.
