Daily Five: Change Your Name, Military Whist, Brunch

1. Weather: Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly sunny with a high near 75. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely after midnight. Cloudy with a low around 57.

2. Military Whist: Okay, this is not what I thought it was! Military Whist is actually a card game. This event is tonight at 6 p.m. Click here for details. And, if anyone goes, can you please send me a photo?

3. Mother's Day Brunch: Come celebrate Mother's Day with the Honey Bees!  The Honey Bees are buzzin' for a cure to cancer and need your help.  A Mother's Day brunch will be held at First Church of Christ at 499 Town Street in East Haddam. For more information, click here.

4. Weekend Events: From a Tiny Tots Fair to a Bone Marrowthon to Plants Sales, there is a lot going on this weekend! Check it out in our events calendar.

5. Conversation Starter~Changing Your Name: Apparently, the trend of a woman keeping her maiden name when she marries has started to fizzle out. A Harvard Professor noted the new trend back in 2004 of more women choosing to change their names than in recent previous decades.

What are your thoughts? Is keeping your maiden name beginning to be a "trend" of the past?
