The tri-lake (Moodus Reservoir, Bashan Lake & Lake Hayward) Ice Fishing Derby sponsored by the Moodus Sportsmen's Club, that had been previously scheduled for this Sunday, Jan. 27th at 6:00 a.m. has been postponed and rescheduled to next weekend on Sunday, Feb. 3rd.
According to Will Brady of the Moodus Sportsmen's Club:
"Bashan Lake and Lake Hayward are wide open and the wind has opened up a large section of the Moodus Reservoir on the upper section. Even if it freezes over tonight it will not be safe on Sunday and with Friday night's light snow predicted, someone could unknowingly walk over thin ice.
Deadline for submitting applications will be extended until Saturday, February 2nd by 6:00 p.m. at the club's headquarters, located at 299 East Haddam-Colchester Turnpike in Moodus.
We would rather be safe than sorry! We don't need our own version of the deadliest catch!"
